MICHAEL A. GIARDINA is a partner of Henry & Federer, LLP and is admitted to practice in both Connecticut (1997) and New York(1999). He is a member of the Connecticut and New York Bar Associations. Attorney Giardina is also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), the Connecticut Chapter of NAELA, and is an active member of the Elder Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association.

Attorney Giardina began his legal career with Ernst & Young, LLP as a Tax Consultant working in the Stamford and Hartford, Connecticut offices. While dealing with federal, as well as state and local, tax issues for corporate and partnership clientele at Ernst & Young, his time was primarily spent on maximizing the Federal Research and Development Tax Credit available for his corporate clients. In 1998, Attorney Giardina joined the firm of Kernan & Henry, LLP, now Henry & Federer, LLP, where in 2005 he became a partner. Since joining the firm Attorney Giardina has dedicated his practice to Estate Planning and Estate Administration, and has become intimately familiar with the Medicaid/Title XIX eligibility rules and procedures. Attorney Giardina also represents clients in residential real estate transactions, as well as in a variety of business issues and transactions.

Attorney Giardina serves on the Board of Directors of and is Treasurer for the Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging, a private non-profit organization based out of Waterbury, Connecticut, which develops, manages, and provides comprehensive services for seniors, caregivers and individuals with disabilities in order to maintain their independence and quality of life.

Attorney Giardina also serves on the Board of Directors of Dora’s Hope, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to redefining the current Medicaid laws which force middle class seniors and disabled adults into nursing homes to receive long term care to permit them a choice to instead receive those services in their home or the homes of loved ones.

Attorney Giardina was born in Clifton, New Jersey in 1971. He graduated from Clifton High School in 1989, Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey in 1994 with a B.S. in Accounting, and cum laude from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 1997. While attending Law School, Attorney Giardina helped found the Quinnipiac Health Law Journal which is published twice a year featuring discourse on practical and theoretical issues in the field of health law and policy.

Attorney Giardina lives in Cheshire, Connecticut with his wife and three children. When not in his office, or shuttling his children to karate, dance, baseball or basketball, Attorney Giardina enjoys golfing, Italian card games, and home improvement shows.
